But it's not just the steering columns that are double, the rudder blades are too. The new large Hallberg-Rassy thus follows the concept of the recently introduced models 44 (test in YACHT 3/2017) and 340 (YACHT 20/2017). With their wide sterns, the new designs from Germán Frers are designed for this. And in tests with the smaller HR models, the twin rudder systems have already proven their worth. Also new are the straight stem and the permanently attached bowsprit as an integral part of the hull. The trunk also serves as an anchor bracket and as a step.
The folding stern platform was already available on the Hallberg-Rassy 55 from 2013 (test in YACHT 20/2013), which is still listed on the shipyard's website. On the new boat, the bathing platform is moved hydraulically at the touch of a button and is flush with the stern and almost invisible. A total of around 10,000 litres of storage space, i.e. around ten cubic metres, is available on deck in the large sail hold in the foredeck and together with the spacious forecastle boxes in the stern and under the dikes. At least that is what the shipyard calculates in its press release for the new launch. The life raft is stowed under the cockpit floor, where it is easily accessible in an emergency.
The sporty, very high sail plan provides for a modern 3-saling rig and a vertically battened furling main right from the shipyard. The short overlapping genoa can be wound and infinitely reefed using an electric furling system installed below deck. Simple, uncomplicated handling is the focus of the equipment on deck. The sheet winches are also fitted with electric drives as standard.
Hallberg-Rassy now offers a choice of interior finishes for all larger models. In addition to the traditional mahogany interior, teak or light-coloured oak can also be ordered. In addition, there are different and combinable alternatives for the layout below deck in almost all areas. A central island bed or two separate single berths can be installed in both the aft and forward owner's cabins. If desired, the central galley can be installed as a long row in the passageway to the aft cabin or in a U-shape on the opposite side.
The new Hallberg-Rassy 57 is now under construction and will be presented as a world premiere at the "Öppet Varv" (open shipyard) trade fair from 24 to 26 August in Ellös. Shipyard boss Magnus Rassy has already told YACHT online the price: HR's big one will cost around 1.53 million euros (at the current exchange rate to the Swedish krona), plus VAT.
On the weekend of 10 and 11 February, the Hallberg-Rassy showroom at the shipyard in Ellös will be open from 11:00 to 14:00. The HR models 64, 55, 44 and 340 are currently on display there. All models in the current line are also under construction and can be seen in production, including the brand new Hallberg-Rassy 57. The new Hallberg-Rassy Parts shop will also be open on the same weekend.
